North Wales Coast & The Conwy Valley Branch - BR Blue Period
|
Because of the large size of the packed routes you will be taken to my Google Drive site for the download of either route.
To install either Route and the bundled Assets, unzip the downloaded archive and put the .rwp file in a handy place (such as on your desktop). Open up the Railworks/Utilities application, and then "Package Manager>Install", and navigate to the file NWCBlue_TS2022.rwp or NWC+CV-BRB_TS2022.rwp, following the on-screen instructions.
IMPORTANT - The Extra Assets provided contain the Station Signs, General signs, Signal box signs, re-textured buildings/vehicles and Route Markers. Their blueprint files need to be present on the recipient’s computer, so we have included a batch file to enable these blueprint files to be copied to the right locations. In your Railworks\Assets folder, you will find a file ‘’NWC_reskins_TfW-Version_v1-0.bat’ which you will need to run (double left click on it), together with the application 7za.exe which is used to extract files from the .ap archives. None of your original files are altered, merely added to. If you ever have to do a file verify, then you will have to install again (not to be confused with a clear cache, though you will need to do that before you next run TS).
These routes are a regression of the DTG “North Wales Coastal” to the BR Blue period, particularly in the year 1980, (together with the Conwy Valley Branch from Llandudno Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog for the NWC+Conwy Valley version).
The regression starts at Llandudno, heading towards Crewe (with the branch to Blaenau Ffestiniog going from Llandudno Junction). Phase 1 finished at Chester, with Phase 2 to Crewe now completed. (There will be a Phase 3 going from Conwy to Holyhead, but not for some time). Throughout the work, many of the industrial plants (and the power station/coal mine needed to generate the energy required to operate them) have been modelled. Surviving goods yards and exchange sidings have been recreated.
Quick Drive scenarios for passenger consists from and to Llandudno, Llandudno Junction, Rhyl, Chester, Crewe and Blaenau Ffestiniog Stations, and for goods from and to Crewe, Chester, Mold Junction, Point of Ayr Colliery, Rhyl and Llandudno Junction, are included. A large number of other scenarios are included with the route – details and requirements are included in the Manual.
As well as the passenger stations, goods yards, loco and carriage sidings, there are a number of facilities for loading/unloading freight. These include a coal mine, power station, minerals terminal, plus non-working timber, oil, chemical and coal terminals. Also, Crewe Works has been recreated in its 1980 format.
All the markers for the route are given in the Appendices – again useful for scenario creators.

UKTS Freeware Packs - http://www.uktrainsim.com/FreewarePacks/
To simulate the vast Steelworks at Shotton, on the north bank of the River Dee, we have used some of the assets from the Freeware pack by Newbouy (IronWorks Pack V2.0, UKTS ID 36721). If you do not install this pack, you will lose some visual effects whilst passing Shotton, but it will not affect the running of trains. We do not have permission to bundle these assets.
Several other sets of assets have been used within the route, the developers of these have given us permission to bundle these in the download package and will be automatically installed when you install the Route.
To re-emphasise - Once you have downloaded and installed this Route, Manuals and Asset Packs (which include the Station Signs, General signs, Signal box signs and Route Markers), the blueprint files (which need to be present on the recipient’s computer) have to be copied and pasted into the relevant folders – a batch file to do this automatically is included, it is a simple operation, and a Readme is included.
